T'ai Chi Chih For Everyone! ( Student Blog)

STUDENT BLOG.

NEW STUDENTS... Please take the time to read through the blog watch the videos and participate by commenting on other comments posted in this string. Even old ones.

Go back and read the sting in stages. A few each week as you develop.

Hello fellow energy workers.

I have been a practitioner of this great practice since the late 80s and recommend it to anyone beginning energy work. I am starting to take new students, working individually with each of them in a four week intensive T'ai Chi Workshop. These are all very magickal people, and I have asked them to come together here to blog their experiences. This way we can discuss and learn from each other, and record our transformation, new feelings, and dreams while learning this new technique of mastering the life-force energy.

Each student as been asked to do three things.

ONE).  practice once daily.

TWO). begin with my breathing exercise, a pre-writen meditation and stretching regiment before practicing the art.

THREE). diary here what effects they experience with regular practice, what they learned in their private class, and what they learned in private practice on  their own. and comment on other who are on the journey.

Day of First Lesson

Molly B.'s picture

Day One of Tai Chi and energy training and as I fully expected there is a LOT to learn! Thankfully, Pam was patient and had a good first lesson planned. We started with a daily intention and lesson - today mine was Beauty- learning to embrace not only external beauty but also internal beauty. Then we learned the meditation, breathing and then the first two movements- Rocking and Bird Wings. I will have to learn to move slower and with less effort- something my life long training as a dancer will not want me to do. BUT after my lesson I felt much more grounded and open, I found myself at work tonight wanting to just go into the rocking movement. While walking the dog this afternoon, the colors of the trees seemed brighter and I could feel the beauty of the Autumn sun illuminating everything around me. I paused a few times to remember my Beauty card from this morning.

My boyfriend thought there was something a bit "off" about me when he got home for dinner- he said I seemed a little more "bubbly" than normal and wanted to know if I was ok. I just smiled at him and said " Yes, I had a really nice day."

Looking forward to more of the work tomorrow!

I'm so happy for you, my husband and I are looking forward to starting with Pam very soon. Congratulations on your first lesson.

these are the magick rose people...

RevPamela FPMKTG's picture

Hey Welcome Jenny & Matt. I am exited too work with you gys too. Your natural ability irealy comes through. It will be fun to see how you feel when you can control it a little bit more. Hence Tai Chi. :)

Jenny. I just uploaded the photo of your rose today as yur profile photo. thats now 11 days and counting. no water, frost, and still brand new.

Day 2

Molly B.'s picture

Day 2- Well I have to confess that my body didn't quite remember all the movements from yesterday so I had to cheat and look up some videos on YouTube. BUT once I found some good ones of Tai Chi Chih master Carmen I felt 1000 times better and I started to remember them. I guess I needed a little hand holding to get me going today.  Carmen had some very nice cues including my favorite ; " move from your Dantian as though it were a pearl."

I practiced in my study around sunset looking out my bay windows over looking the trees. I felt very still and calm. As I closed I looked down and my dog Mona was sitting next to me and had been watching me practice.

Carmen rocks.... literally!

RevPamela FPMKTG's picture

I loved meeting her once back in the 80s. my friend took me to a "conference" of teachers. But I do want to throw my 2cents in for whatever its worth. Justin speaks of the energy making his hand shakes, and if I remember correctly Carmen says something about it too in thoes old videos. the one Christine has out was shot in my old studio in Fargo ND. woow.

However, this shaking is where I want to take the practice to a discipline of magick. The shaking is because they are feeling and moving the energy - but, I want you to learn how to direct that energy with softness. The shaking is actually leaking the energy through the hands.  I want to hold it in and heal with it... or use it for what ever your own personal gift might be. It's a conundrum. you cant use muscles to stop the shaking, because then you loose the soft fluidness of the motion and thus, loose the strength of the energy. BUT - the masters of their time, yet shake and not unlike a tea kettle, releases the buildup of a energy. So it's like they never get past that level of "compression" for the lack of a better word, and happens by following the main goal of Tai Chi Chih; being relaxed and using the least number of muscles to achieve the movement.

So I put it to you all a question?

- how do you achieve softness to create the gigantic fire-ball of life-force energy while you're doing tai chi, and control the energy as it builds and is captured between ur hands and dantean (2 inches below the navel to the ribcage dip) which causes the shaking?

anyone have thoughts?

Think I Might be Finally Getting Somewhere!!

Molly B.'s picture

Day 4-

Today I felt like I was making some true progress with my practice.  After 4 days I feel like the first few movements are getting into my body and don't feel so un-natural. I am finding it easier to move from the Dantean and allow that to lead me. I am also finding that I need to work for more than just 10 minutes to really start to feel the Energy between my hands. For me at this stage in the game 9 or so reps in clearly not enough.   Even though I am starting to feel more of the energy between my hands and coming from my fingers they do not shake at least not yet.......

I have been practicing around 4 PM in the afternoons before I go into the studio for work in the evenings.  Tomorrow I am going to try to do a more lengthy practice in the morning first thing and see if that is any different.

Regarding the Giant Fire Ball of life as a result of softness- I can totally see that THAT is indeed the secret to this work and just today I started to feel the effects of the whole less effort is more- but I know I am only just at the very, very, beginning of learning, understanding, and ultimately controlling this energy.

And maybe one day I will be able to use it for some magick :) Stay tuned....

keep going girl!

First - thanks for keeping up on the blogging thing. being the first student is trend setting wink!

Keep practicing the rhythms slowly and relaxed, eventually you will connect with your own natural "wave" as moon pulls you

Enjoy.

There is a disturbance in The Force

Molly B.'s picture

Today was my 2nd Lesson and Pam wanted me to come home and blog about what I told her during out lesson this morning.

Last week, Pam had told me that I would probably start to experience strange mood swings, emotional shifts, have strange dreams etc. Well I am here to tell you that I have experienced all of these things since I started learning Tai Chi. My dreams have been all over the place, even though as a witch with the sight I usually have strange dreams anyway. The ones I have been having recently are different- it is as though I am underwater but know that I am dreaming. I wake up and quickly try to remember as much as I can, sometimes I remember lots like replaying a movie- other times nothing.

Saturday I was am emotional train wreck after the Paris attacks. I could not stop crying and I am usually unfazed by these sorts of things. Pam described it to me that when there is a "disturbance in the Force" (Like in Star Wars) that people who are more in tune with the energy of the Earth feel it more. So when all of those poor innocent people in Paris were slaughtered their energy was ripped out of the Force and I could feel it. I really could which was why I would just start sobbing for no reason, while I was a work, driving, or at the Trader Joes. The ironic thing was that my boyfriend and I decided to watch Star Wars on Saturday night and I remember thinking  "Wow the Jedi's must do Tai Chi!!" The whole idea of the Force is exactly what I am learning and working on with our Tai Chi and how it fits into the workings of magick.

Today, we learned some new moves even though I had kind of cheated at learned some on my own by watching ahead on Carmen's video. Pam encouraged me to leave the learning of the movements for lessons and then practice with the tape at home. Of course, this is a much better strategy even though I do want to just keep following along with Carmen. It's just too much fun to have to stop!

So far I have learned; Rocking, Bird Flaps It's Wings, Around the Platter, Around the Platter Variation, Daughter in the Mountain (my personal favorite) and Daughter in the Valley. I also learned the healing sounds and nearly passed out after trying them twice. I have kind of felt sick every since, which I hope is the sick energy leaving my body. I will need to practice those a lot. My other goal for this week is to try and practice more without the tape- I think that I know the moves enough that I can do it and will keep you all posted on how week 2 is going.

Blessings,

M

Tai chi 1st lesson

Jenny Stover's picture

What an amazing experience. There is so much to remember I am very thankful for a new way of moving energy. One step at a time "Rome wasn't built in a day" I have got so much going on in my head right now. One thing that really stands out is how my hands were tingling during the lesson. I feel very calm like I can handle anything that comes my way. Plan to continue with the tai chi tomorrow. I'm pretty sure I'll need to refer to my notes for review to start practice tomorrow

Learning a strangely familiar New Way

Matthew Stover's picture

I say so because there's a familiar feel to tai chi.Even though I consciously have no knowledge of the discipline there is a feeling as if I walked into my grade school classroom. (I know this place)

Anyway a few things where remarkable. While doing bird flaps its wings I was happy to experience the presence of unchained/free energy (not predetermined for some specific propose) surrounding my hands in the area of say the foam #1 hands perceived as swirling wind.I am also pleased at how quickly this occurred.

I do admit I do feel a bit awkward at this time like the tight rope walker told to juggle at the same time.Given enough time and practice I'm sure I'll remember my way around the classroom again.

The releasing of the energy was noteworthy as well.Other times it has been like tossing a carrier pigeon(go be free)but this time for whatever reason I had the energy arc between my palms as a spiraling green "cord".i envisioned this cord arcing through the white light radiating from my crown. Then I pulled it down through my body absorbing bits of murkiness as it went(like the bits of dirt on a mop yarn)until it passed out of my body to the earth with a pleasant buzz.

ok highly detailed I know but it was done as I was led to.

I am looking forward to learning more of tai chi and its interconnection with energy.

Welcome Matt and Jenny!!

Molly B.'s picture

I am so excited that you will be joining this special group studying with Pam! Matt; I enjoyed your images of the green cords I am going to try using that in my daily practice today. Jenny; don't worry about feeling overwhelmed I feel exactly the same way but once you practice a few more times you'll get the hang of it I promise!

I am looking forward to seeing you both on here and in person very soon!

Well I am off to practice the healing sounds now.......

finished first independent lesson the energy is still felt but not as same as the initial lesson with Pam things were done the same, but it feels different. The energy was not as intense. I hope I'm doing this right I do feel at peace despite my cat Beethoven putting in his two cents. Calm and serene is how I feel right now.

Tai chi day two(at home)

Matthew Stover's picture

This session had many interrupters however I could feel the energy flowing. This time it felt a bit harder as if resistance was being applied to my movements.also need to work on what is proper position again.tried to find them on utube but the energy plug got pulled out and was having great difficulty staying awake afterwards.

tired at 8:30 very unu

distractions, Interruptions n a frick'n flat tire... Act As If!

RevPamela FPMKTG's picture
Here's a place to help me. Matt. Comment and read the other student's posts about this same subject. I personally believe there IS only one - and in that poor highlander reference, if you turn out to be the 'choosen one' and remember this message is for everyone reading this. eventually, if there is only one. it determines fate. Good verses Evil. right? keep following me here... so if you ARE the chosen one then everything that can stop you from practicing, or having a GOOD practice will then happen. Everything and anything will stop YOU from getting that one percent better at which ever side you're on. for instance, getting sick but, regardless what it is we need to demonstrates two things to achieve our goal with Tai Chi. consistency. in practice! by getting up and actually doing the movement regardless of how we really feel, and by letting the chi - that vital force, that energy... flow through your mind-frame that chakra point and effect your whole outlook on your day. Only you are in control of your feelings. there is never ever a reason to lower yourself by loosing your cool. or being ouot of control. you have just practiced calmness. and with this we receive reasoning, a wiser more clear view on our world. acknowledge the lessons that come to you - because they really are ALL lessons, be calm - maybe a flat tire on the way to class makes you miss class and practice at home, But you might meet a man who stops to help you with that flat tire and he might change your life. OR probably more like it- you change his. and two: believe in the honesty of the movement. regardless of the situation. you need to be honest in your affairs. you need to live your life by: no intent to deceive. Pure vision. Pure insite. and this is a real look at yourself. Witch craft 101. you have to be honest to yourself who you really are, and heal yourself before you can heal others or hurt others depending on your private goals in coming here. the energy can be used for good and evil. Why do you think it is so common for beginning students to get sick when they start the practice? Or have wild dreams. Its part of letting go of the past. Of your sickness. of your disease. You have to consciously STOP getting attention or sympathy through physical mental or spiritual excuses. it's over. YOU are called upon to be a leader now. you must demonstrate first, what you will ask others to do, and that's learn and leave it in the past and move on from here. every single thing that has happened in your past did make you a better person. Take that and leave the rest. Get rid of the stuff you dont need and start acting as if. As if you ARE already enlightened. that's the real KEY to being a master. to BE the enlightened one. (goddess... hope Ian doesnt read this cuz he will quote this post every time I holler at him) but really that IS the demonstration. to have the ability to "control the energy" when it's wild buzzing out-of-control inside you... or around you. ACT AS IF you are in control. Which Tai Chi teaches us through consistent practice. Welcome to witchcraft 101. Isn't that why you came here?

Training Wheels are Off!!!!

Molly B.'s picture

I am super excited and quite pleased with myself as today I completed a full session by myself with no video or lists!! Totally un interrupted!! It was awesome, I was totally in the zone, so much so that I may have done a few extra reps in and there :) Today I was really trying to focus on the breath: inhale for 6, hold full, exhale for 6, hold empty etc etc. It really helps to slow me down and reel in my arms. Pam has been encouraging me to do this so that the energy doesn't get too far away from my body. AND finally during the final pose my fingers shook a little!

I am still experiences a lot of emotional shifts and to be honest I am not sure I like it. I am also having a hard time focusing on things like work and driving. I don't know if this is because we are having some stress here at our house or if it's because the Chi in my body is getting all swirled around. I hope this doesn't last much longer because I don't like it.

Healing sounds still need some work. Still trying to learn all the moves and memorize the sounds.

Glad to hear you guys are getting off to a good start with your home practice!

Day after my first Tai Chi lesson and first homework!

Angel Rose Nox's picture

Wow, my day with Pam was absolutely healing for me. I am an energy worker. I have also JUST become attuned for Reiki 1 and there is a 21 day after effect to that that can be very difficult. The Tai Chi lesson along with the mediation was a great comfort and also a wonderful experience of self control. Following through with practice today was also very centering for me as I am understanding my truths. The discipline alone in being able to center my energy and work with it in a balanced way has been a great comfort. I look forward to the changes this will bring in my life. I would like to see this become habit and an every day routine for me. It is my hope that with daily practice I will hold my center for longer amounts of time and better my own meditation and healing practices.

Tai chi third day

Jenny Stover's picture

I've managed to catch a cold so today's practice was a little bit of a challenge, as I really didn't feel like doing it, but I tried anyway. I felt cool wind between my fingers and almost like energy sparks on my palms. Once I got in the rhythm it was easier much like meditation it felt good

Tai chi chih @ home

Matthew Stover's picture

Today's session went much smoother. Remembering to ground after each movement was key. Yesterday I forgot and was totally drained plus agitated :-( no fun. Not today though much better flow through the movements. No interruptions this time either + :-) went through session with meditation music neat stuff. I didn't seem to raise as much energy this time I think I was concentrating on getting the motion down. What I did raise was flowing off my hands making my fingers feel very long and wispy. I decided not to release the energy this time felt like a boost after yesterday

Being Tested- day 10 this was from yesterday but just posted it

Molly B.'s picture

It was either this week or last week during my sessions that Pam mentioned something to me about being tested when the Universe throws something your way. How YOU react is the only you have control over. Maybe that bad thing needed to happen to you for a reason, maybe you got a flat and the tow truck driver needed to be brought into your life. Or you needed to be tested on how you handled and controlled your energy during the event.

Today my car got towed. For the second time. I visit a very sick lady a few times a week and park my car near her building and the signs are very confusing. Typical city of Chicago. So when I finished visiting my friend and found that the City was towing multiple cars from the street, mine was already gone, I went up to the tow truck driver and said "Excuse me Sir, could you please clarify for me what the rules are for parking here? I see that you are towing several cars so clearly lots of people think that it is OK for them to park here." The man explained to me that there was no parking from the sign all the way to driveway- although the signs do not clearly communicate this. I thanked him and proceeded to have an absolute melt down. My father is the registered owner of my car as it was a gift for my birthday and when you go to get your car from the pound the registered owner must be present or you must have a notarized letter from the registered driver in order to get your car from the impound. My father is currently away in Ohio at their farm. So I had to hightail it home, call my father, call the UPS store in Ohio to confirm their hours and that they had a notary. Call the impound, ask for the supervisor, make sure that I could send a faxed letter over with the notary to get my car out. By this point I was at the point of having a nervous breakdown and thought well "You are being tested- are you going to pass or fail Molly?"

I went into my office  held crystal, and did my meditation, my voice was shaky and I felt like I was going to throw up. I did the 6 healing sounds twice and felt disgusting. I lit my candle and began my practice. I did extra Bird Flaps it's Wings per a suggestion from Pam and started to feel better, I got to my Around the Platters moving as slow as I could trying to feel the energy from my hands. I controlled my breathing- in for 6, hold full, out for 6 hold empty. I tried to smile and relax my face, and soon I could see the sun starting to peak out from the clouds making the yellow leaves in the trees outside my bay windows glisten like gold. I no longer felt like I was in a panic. I was calm. Relaxed. I focused on all of my movements and everything I have been learning and working on for the past 10 days. And then it dawned on me! This was my test and I needed to refocus my energy to direct my reactions. I finished my practice with the 6 healing sounds and the Cosmic Conscious pose and a repeat of the meditation. This time my voice was smooth, powerful, and true.

I decided right then and there and the next time I am visiting my friend next week I am  going to print up signs and tape then to all the trees on the section of street where my car was towed from that say "DO NOT PARK HERE THE CITY WILL TOW YOU". That way other people will not get confused as I was and make the same mistake. I will keep a stack of them in my car and put them up every time I am there.

I know this will not be the last time I am tested while on this journey- but I do know that I am willing to take the test, that I have the power over my own mind and to the power to set myself free.

Day 11 Best Practice Sessions Yet

Molly B.'s picture

So I think that the first 10 days of my practice by body has been getting used to all the new energy and trying to balance everything out- which is why I have felt so terrible and all over the place. Pam told me this would happen but I didn't think it would be anything like what it has been like BUT today I am a new woman!! I did my 6 healing sounds, breathing, meditation and then my practice and it was like I was Neo in the Matrix! I have been in a fantastic mood all day, super energized, and focused in all of my daily tasks from housework, teaching, walking the dog etc. I think my Chi is getting to the place where is should be and I can really start to work with all this new balanced and clean energy.

Excited to see what tomorrow brings!

Tai chi

Jenny Stover's picture

Last night I really didn't feel like doing tai chi but I did it anyway it felt pretty good. I had a little trouble with heavy feet in rocking motion but when I did the second set of  bird flaps its wing I got the impression of my arms being wings that was very cool as I've always wanted to fly with real wings. Kind of like a bird in flight I could feel wind between my fingers/feathers

Nice... That's it!

RevPamela FPMKTG's picture
I'm glad you're talking about this. If the concept of good verses evil exists... and actually battling one another... and you're working for the "good" side...then evil or negative energies are going to flood in at first to discourage you from practicing. If you move through it - you will find even more enlightenment. Softness and slowness is the key. Fight the urge to move fast with calmness and breathing. If you start to shake. breath, visualize the energy moving through you. See that white light heal you. surround you and protect you. penetrate you and cleans you purify you.

Day ....

Angel Rose Nox's picture

I got the flu :(  I am going to make this up.. but yesterday and today have been very very rough

KEEP MOVING

RevPamela FPMKTG's picture
you have to move through the disease or you will get very very ill two three times a day. do what you know... p

Sounds like we got a bunch of "sickies" out there...

RevPamela FPMKTG's picture
If you're starting Tai chi and practicing like you should and find yourself "sick" cold flue etc. KEEP PRACTICING! Its working... you are circulating this old stuck clogged disease energy that has built up inside of you. Keep moving. Do as much as you can as often as you can while you're going though this transition. The old will be replaced with the new healthier you only if you keep moving through this illness. if you stop yo might get REALLY SICK! If you'e too sick to stand do it sitting in a chair or laying in bed. you're all able to capture the energy life force... or you wouldn't be sick. hhhaaa. softness. consistency. BALANCE. Will heal you and you will come out of this feeling better than you have ever felt. Butt you have to MOVE THROUGH IT Pam

Watch This Video.

RevPamela FPMKTG's picture
If you can't practice. Watch Carmen. But only go as far as we have in class. do not work head. Couple things I like here is the way she describes feeling the energy. She grounds between every movement which might help you have a little less effect from the chi which maybe good at first. Practice breath work do your mirror mantra warrior stretch click "play" https://youtu.be/ONjHjM4puGY

Pearl... Pearl - PEARL? whatsup?

RevPamela FPMKTG's picture
reply to this particular comment. Each of you... Tell me what YOU are learning about this PEARL Carmen keeps talking about. ( now you really have to watch the video. Mooaaahhhhhhaaaaaaa. then find one student comment and add your two cents about what they are talking about. :)

Pearl

Jenny Stover's picture
I think the "pearl" Carmen is referring to is either the dantien or the life force inside us all. Carmen is awesome!!!!!!!!!

First Lesson

Ian Magnuson's picture

After the first lesson I took the rest of the day to reflect on what I had learned and felt. I found that I had trouble sleeping and when I woke up the next day (today) I hardly had energy to get up. About to do T'ai Chi to get that energy back!

The Energy Flows... and Brings us Back Again!

RevPamela FPMKTG's picture

Hey Welcome Ian.

He's an old pro at this, and like most of you can raise the energy naturally, but with every discipline it ebbs and flows and he hasnt practiced in a long time... but now he's back. I must admit mirroring his mother.

:) Over the last few years, I very much got lost in working on spirituality that I lost it the true feeling of it.  Now Im back too. Tai Chi really works for me and I am sure you'll agree with me Ian... its the quietness I felt before that I want back. that... stillness. peace. quiet mind. faith in the universe. feeling well. Safe. I find when I dont practice for long periods of time I get testy. short fused. little things begin to flare up big feelings. not as in control. and the thing we learn with Tai Chi is that we are in control of our feelings.  No mater what happens to us. There is power in softness. And Peace and trust in balance.

I don't know this teacher - but liked what she had to say. Keep practicing. just once a day and it will carry throughout your day, Let this movement connect you to the energy and change your outlook. Let it do it's work. Allow yourself to BE transformed into a happy satisfied person who CAN live in BOTH worlds. The :working mundane and :spiritual

I found Tai Chi to be the answer for me. When I move in the morning (at 7:30am CST when My alarm goes off - I get up at 5am every day, so I don't want to loose track of time) I speak softer, listen more, and feel more intuitive.

Pearl

Matthew Stover's picture

I think the pearl is an "easy" way to think of or visualize a tightly focused ball of energy.energy ball may be vague so the pearl may help to grasp the concept. Also a reference to the gift/special "thing" inside us.

Practice

Matthew Stover's picture

Ok back to it. Yes when I got sick I let myself get into an f it stage.I realized that and am moving on. As if no. Do or not.

And we learn more about ourselves.

RevPamela FPMKTG's picture

embrace this skywalker... you now challenge yourself to do better.

Good example for us all.

Tai chi practice

Jenny Stover's picture

I tried to do the tai chi like the first lesson. I think I got the movements pretty good. Tonight when doing rocking motion and bird flaps its wings it felt like a thick syrup was oozing out of my palms and running down my arms. It kind of gave me the hebby gebbies. I had a problem getting rid of it. Matt finished before me and helped me  get rid of the icky feeling.

Today

Matthew Stover's picture

Because it's not over till you wake up. Anyway the breathing was very helpful for clearing/centering today. While doing Rocking motion water came to mind. The gentle waves of the sea. How each one would rise and fall just as it should. Bird flaps its wings brought images of an eagle just enjoying the wind, effortlessly moving though th the sky. This made me smile and I was happy to share in its moment.

Daily practice

Matthew Stover's picture

Today I did practice in the morning wanted to see how it would affect my day. I did a bit of paraphrasing on the affirmation looking within myself instead of a mirror. It helped with keeping focus. I also focused on softness to keep myself loose and smooth. I think it went well. Afterwards I powered through my house work felling satisfied enough to pull movie marathon. Avengers catch up :) I noticed how the breathing pattern stayed with me for quite awhile even when finished with practice. Overall a pretty good day.

DAYS 2, 3, and 4

Ian Magnuson's picture

Ahhh, I am so bad at this!

Day 2 Saturday:  I drove back to college Saturday night. I was feeling nervous about the Post-Thanksgiving-One-Lane I-88 traffic (and my really old Jeep). I still had two hours left on the trip. Doing the meditative breathing and the T'ai Chi movements in my head helped me calm down (and put out a few street lights) as I drove home.

Day 3 Sunday:  I woke up at 7am (unheard of for me) and I immediately did T'ai Chi. This helped me stay awake and energized through my Sunday full of work. After work (an oddly negative day, over all) I did T'ai Chi to some music just to practice and to help me  reflect on the day. Got really into it (my "Shower Beer" playlist is awesome incase you were wondering hahah)

Day 4 Monday: Again, got up at 7am (actually a bit earlier) and T'ai Chi was my first thing I did. Afterward, I went on with my day (class, more class, news paper, orchestra etc...) and it has been an overall good day. However, approaching tonight was this weird over-encombered feeling. Before I go to sleep, I am probably going to do more T'ai Chi, you know, for practice :)

Tai chi lesson 2

Jenny Stover's picture

Just finished practice after lesson two. I was feeling a good deal of energy during platter not so much on the variation. There was some energy on bass drum too. I need more practice on healing sounds and to slow down my movements. Making progress though, I'm happy with that. I had to cheat a little and look up a Justin stone video on healing sounds as well as get pointers from Matt my husband. Still I feel shaky on healing sounds. Is it bad to practice that by itself?

Thank you Pam for the focus points and direction on my last lesson. They were very helpful. Ok so!!! I am sooo stoked about having new moves to do!!! Yes! This feels terrific. My body was hungry for more. Like the little kid,hey kid want some ice cream? Yeah me too. Bye. !?! The energy raised feels wonderful. Not to mention having something to do with it. I found the when I'm moving through the circles of platter and bass drum that a pattern of breathing out as I moved away and in moving towards me had the most benefit. The energy was crackling on bass drum(just remember to breath) I could hear Pam say. Oh yeah had the golden bowls playing also. When I got to platter it was neat to imagine my fingers making them ring out. Pretty neat :) Can't wait to do it again!

...not so bad...

Ian it sounds like you're doing pretty well to me. Getting into it,feeling good, and energized. Yup I'd say it might even be...catchy. Good suggestion, the extra sessions don't sound like a bad idea.

Tai chi week 2.2

Finished with practice tonight I had a lot of what I'll call popcorn in my shoulders and knees throughout practice. My hands felt like ice cold during platter and variation. Got tingly fingers during bass drum. Getting a little better at healing sounds but still need work. I'm sure I'll get it with enough practice.

Snap crackle pop

Wow,lots of popcorn in the warrior stretch today. Practice went well today. The meditation was smoother and I had less references to the notes as well. Hey my body's getting the hang of it. I did start off with ratcheting knees but they smoothed out midway through. On platter variation my ball felt dark and cracklings. I was thinking of it being the anger, stress, and negative thoughts that may have been lingering. Nice to be rid of that! Plenty of energy to give to the healing sounds too. Afterwards I watched the Justin Stone videos on healing sounds, platter, and variation. Got it!

Good night all and happy circling

Day after my Second Lesson.

Angel Rose Nox's picture

Ill be very honest this has been a struggle. Not so much the movements and the classes are wonderful and uplifting. It is the "rest"! My life is at a significant transition phase. I also have been attuned to do Reiki, yet another "awakening". I immediately got a cold after day 1 of Tai-Chi. I realize this is the energy moving and releasing in whatever way my body can do it. Add the struggles and transitions in my personal life, I understand on a cosmic level that Tai Chi is a gift to help me balance myself through what is right now akin to some very turbulent seas. My Tai Chi is calming and balancing. It is good to feel in control of at least one thing in my life. So although I have had the doubts and the "Im too tired" thoughts I am not giving up. This is the beginning of what will become a very beautiful part of honoring myself in this incarnation.

Tai chi 2.3

Jenny Stover's picture

What an amazing experience this morning!!!!  I'm sooooooo exited I did the tai chi in a kitchen chair this morning as  my ankle was throwing a fit and giving out on me yesterday. I felt more power in this instance than other practices. It literally felt like here was a colom of power around me. And also the air/energy felt thick like I was swimming in water wow that was sooooooo cool!

Time for change

Matthew Stover's picture

I'm not totally sure if I did it or not but this is curious anyway. At work yesterday I found myself doing the tai chi breathing on autopilot. I could hear myself thinking hold full exhale slowly and hold empty. Just a few moments later and the row of lights above me went out. The whole row, across the shop. A man came out to see what had happened and apparently the circuit had blown a fuse. He reset it and a few minutes later it went out again. Same guy same result. A few more minutes and a different row went out. 3 separate times within fifteen minutes or so. This got me to thinking,it's time for a change. So this morning I did my session before work, and went in a little later than usual. Once there I spoke with my bosses and told them I wold like to shift my schedule by one hour later. They said well I don't see anything with it why, trying to get some more sleep? I told them no I'm taking tai chi and want to get the most out of it by starting my day with it. It has just been too hard to get myself up ready for work and do my lesson beforehand. Moving my schedule would allow me to accomplish this. And have more consistency my main boss chimed in. Yep ok we'll make the changes in your file, tai chi huh, right on he said. Anyway I am just so happy that it all just snapped into place. What a perfect outcome. Oh and I had a pretty rockin day.

Today's lesson

Matthew Stover's picture

Today I felt that while doing the warrior stretch I was drawing in the energy of the four quarters. Rocking motion was attuning me with water. Bird flaps its wings, air. I didn't feel connected/linked with earth or fire and felt off balance because of it. Afterwards my legs did feel particularly fluid and I really had the urge to stretch them out.

Energy work

Jenny Stover's picture

Had a real problem trying to do tai chi tonight, I have degenerative disc disease that simply means the discs between my vertebrae will dissolve over time. Right now they are pinching nerves causing a very painful back. So instead of tai chi in the traditional sense I did the tai chi breathing and meditated concentrateing on making an energy ball. I Boulder feel it as if I were holding a real ball about a foot in diameter. My palms were electrified with the energy I could feel muscles in my hands twitching and trembling. At the end of the time I handed the ball to Matt to press into my back. I have never tried to hold a ball of energy that long. I was struggling a little to contain it. Holy cow what an amazing experience.

Morning tai chi

Matthew Stover's picture

Woke up this morning feeling very body heavy. As if I were a hundred pounds heavier. Knees were aching too. My center of gravity felt as though it were knee level. I'm not real sure why, this was uncomfortable and strange. However after my morning session of tai chi my knees totally stopped hurting and all was back to normal. The new moves of the daughters threw me for a loop. Didn't quite have the motions down so looked them up with Justin Stone videos. Stil need work but that's what practice is for. Thanks for the lesson:).
